Elevating Harmony: The Role of Chorus Lifts
Chorus lifts are found in concert halls and are generally used in symphonic performances.
There are typically 3 or 4 rows of lifts placed in a radius or U-shaped configurations. The rows may be split into sections or they could be continuous.
Gradual Elevation of Chorus Platforms in Concert Settings
For symphonic performances the chorus lifts are placed in a stepped configuration with the lifts nearest the audience at the lowest levels with subsequent lift rows rising gradually to the back row furthest from the audience. In this configuration the audience has good sightlines to the entire symphony.
Improved Acoustics and Visibility for Symphonic Performances
A chorus lift configuration allows the audience to better hear and see the musicians in the symphony.
Limited Travel Range of Chorus Lifts
Travel distances above stage level are generally low with a maximum of around 3 feet (0,9 m).
