Today’s convention centres are becoming increasingly sophisticated and design-conscious, seeking to gain a competitive advantage as cities strive to attract conference delegations. Completed in 2015 by Austrian architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au, the Baku Convention Centre in Azerbaijan was built as such a high-tech visionary facility. As presented in the latest edition of the International Association of Congress Centres’ (AIPC) Communiqué, the Baku Convention Centre offers not only versatile public spaces, but also a main venue with a fully configurable stage and an auditorium adaptable in both size and capacity. Equipped with a Gala Venue® Seating System, the Baku 3500-seat venue can be automatically transformed from a raked seating layout to a flat floor space in 15 minutes.

Conference planners now have the ability to use spaces for different purposes during the course of a single day to suit the requirements of both the business and entertainment industries for decades to come.
